Phase I Environmental Site Assessment

A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is a physical inspection of a potential brownfield site. Phase I assessment components include:

  • a records review;
  • a site reconnaissance (investigation);
  • interviews with individuals familiar with historical operations at the property;
  • and reporting

No actual testing or sampling will be performed during the Phase I ESAs.

Following the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard E1527-05 titled “Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments, AECOM Environment will perform the 25 Phase I ESAs in Blue Island.
