Gardening & Food Access Committee

The Food Access Committee works with community partners to cultivate a diverse and fair local food system that increases access to healthy fresh foods, eliminates hunger and improves the health of our community. Current initiatives include:

  • Gathering and sharing information on community food security and gardening programs, resources & stakeholders;
  • Developing partnerships between local growers and the community;
  • Support and expand existing and future community gardening and orchard initiatives;
  • Support community efforts to improve access to fresh and healthy foods through community gardening, youth gardening, farmers market, CSA, healthy corner stores, etc; &
  • Collaborate with members of the Healthy Schools Committee on the development of school food pantry program for District 130

GFA meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 11:30 am inside the Memorial Park Field House, unless otherwise stated.
